Major-purchase verification register — used EV
Before any deposit, seller: provide the full vehicle identifier through the verified secure channel, seller legal identity, documentary ownership/authority to sell, written deposit refund conditions, complete price inclusions/exclusions, and written consent for buyer-chosen independent inspection. Evidence: originals or verifiable records, not listing screenshots. Identifier mismatch, refusal, unverifiable authority, or nonrefundable pressure triggers walk-away.
Official transfer/registry authority: using the exact identifier and parties, what current documents, eligibility, use-history restrictions, transfer steps, taxes/fees if officially stated, and encumbrance checks apply? What official record confirms no unresolved transfer blocker? Do not ask the dealer to self-certify this gate. Recall source: what open campaigns apply to the exact identifier as of the check date? A lookup result is dated evidence, not a permanent claim.
Independent inspector: measure structural reference points, repair evidence, paint, underbody, water/flood indicators, safety systems, tires/brakes, charging ports, diagnostic codes, odometer consistency and road-test observations under an agreed written scope. For “95% battery health,” record test tool, method, temperature, state of charge, usable-energy result, comparison basis, error/limitations and raw report. The inspection describes current evidence; it does not guarantee future battery life.
Manufacturer/authorized service: confirm in writing original warranty start, remaining time/mileage, exclusions, transferability, required history, open service campaigns, and available service records for the identifier. Dealer wording is not warranty proof. Verify child-seat anchorage in the manufacturer manual and physical inspection rather than assuming model-level compatibility.
Lender: provide cash price, down payment, principal, APR, term, every fee, monthly schedule, balloon/final payment, early-repayment terms, security interest and total repayment. “From 2,199/month” is not comparable without these fields. Insurer: quote the actual drivers, location, use and vehicle, with coverage, exclusions, deductibles and annual premium; do not infer insurability.
Charging: property/building confirms permission, parking rights, meter/load process and restrictions; qualified installer surveys cable route, capacity, protection, permits/approvals, labor/material scope, restoration, warranty and total price. Dealer clarifies what “free charger” includes and excludes. If home installation is not feasible, verify a practical nearby plan from current operator sources; availability is not guaranteed by this review.
Pre-payment gate: secure IDs match across documents/vehicle; official transfer and encumbrance path verified; inspection accepted; battery evidence understood; material history disclosed; warranty written; full cash/TCO within 150,000 including quoted transfer, immediate work and insurance; financing total understood if used; charging feasible; contract/deposit/return terms accepted. Any unresolved must-have remains a blocker. Seller request: “Please provide the attached evidence list by 5 September. We will not pay a nonrefundable deposit before identifier, authority, transfer path and independent inspection are verified.”
